- Position: full sun
- Soil: will tolerate most soils, except very chalky or badly drained
- Rate of growth: slow growing
- Flowering period: April to May
- Hardiness: fully hardy (borderline)
The fruits of this interesting apricot are larger than average, and as they ripen, their skins turn orange with a strong red blush. It tends to be reliably hardy in most regions of the UK (provided they are planted in freely draining soils), but for best results, plant it in a warm, sunny position (against a south-facing wall would be ideal). Grafted onto St Julien A rootstock, it is a self-fertile plant, so it does not need a pollination partner to produce fruit.
- Garden care: When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly. Protect the blossom from frost, and prune in summer to reduce the risk of disease.
