Garden care: Alliums are drought tolerant and watering plants grown in the ground is not usually necessary. Plants dislike summer irrigation because this may cause the bulbs to rot, however plants in containers may need supplementary water. Deadhead spent flower heads at the base and divide congested clumps after flowers and foliage has died down. Avoid excessive moisture from late summer when dormant.
